Volunteering Information
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Parents Auxiliary. If you have questions about or would like to volunteer to help Parents Auxiliary functions, please email Cassandra Regan at cassr@nymaparentsauxiliary.com. When emailing to volunteer, please be sure to indicate the activity and date you would like to volunteer for as well as the best phone number to reach you at. Expressing your interest to volunteer/chaperone early greatly assists us in providing appropriate supervision for our activities. It also ensures a phone call should the event need to be cancelled or postponed. All parents are welcome to attend all events - even if you cannot commit to chaperoning we welcome your participation at any time.
APRIL Volunteer Opportunities:
1. Lounge Night in Donaldson Lodge - Fri Apr 9 8pm-10pm. Music, board/card games and snacks in Donaldson Lodge. We need help with refreshments (both preparing ahead of time and serving throughout the night) and general chaperones for the evening. This event is open only to cadets in grades 9-12.Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Thur Apr 8.
2. Wii and Movie Night in Scarborough - Sat Apr 10 6:30pm - 10pm. Wii gaming will start at 6:30. Movie will begin at approx 8 pm. Volunteers are needed to set up and supervise gaming, set up and serve refreshments throughout the gaming and movie. Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Fri Apr 9.
3. Cosmic Bowling - Fri Apr 16 9pm -11pm. Cosmic Bowling at Bowling Time in New Windsor. Event is 2 hours of bowling plus shoe rental. The PA and NYMA activities share the cost for this event for cadets. If chaperones would like to bowl, the cost is $10. Participants are responsible for their own refreshments. This event is open only to cadets in grades 8-12. Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Thur Apr 15.
4. Paintball - Sun Apr 18 1pm -4pm. Paintball at Cousins. Cost per cadet is $25 per bag of paint. No cost for equipment rental. Cadets are permitted to use their own equipment for this activity. Limited to 15 cadets. Any chaperone wishing to particpate would eligible for the same rate. Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Fri Apr 16.
5. Post-AFI Games and Movie - Mon Apr 26 6:30pm-9:30pm. Location TBD based on weather. Wii gaming will start at 6:30. Movie will begin at approx 7:30 pm. Volunteers are needed to set up and supervise gaming, set up and serve refreshments throughout the gaming and movie. Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Sat Apr 24.
6. Campfire, S'Mores and Movie - Fri Apr 30 7pm-10pm. Weather permitting we will have a campfire and s'mores behind the gym followed by an outdoor movie (with refreshments, of course). Chaperones are needed to assist in fire building, s'more making, refreshment serving and general supervision. Commitment to chaperoning is requested by Thurs Apr 29.
